EMC and polarized EMC effects in nuclei
Speaker:Wolfgang Bentz (Dept. of Physics, School of Science, Tokai University)
Abstract:We discuss both the spin-independent and spin-dependent nuclear structure functions, taking into account the medium modifications of the single nucleon structure functions. We present a comparison with EMC data for the unpolarized case, and model predictions for the polarized case. We use a quark-diquark description of the structure functions of a single nucleon in the presence of nuclear scalar and vector mean fields, together with a simple relativistic shell model description for finite nuclei. The results indicate that the polarized EMC effect is stronger than the unpolarized one.
