Introduction to little string theory I
Speaker:Soo-Joung Rey (Seoul National University)
Abstract:When string coupling is sent to zero in the background of 5-branes, a truncated theory localized in six dimensional subspace emerges. This truncation decouples gravitational dynamics, while keeping all features of string theory. In this review lectures, I will summarize how this six-dimensional theory comes about, and discuss how to study them, encompassing worldsheet and spacetime approaches. Most recent development on new aspects of BPS sectors will be discussed as well. If time permits, I will also cover new aspects of gauge- gravity duality of this theory.
