Measurement of the Static Structure Factor in a Paraxial Fluid of Light Using Bragg-like Spectroscopy and Beam shaping for optical levitation of an ultracold 40K atom lattice
Speaker:Clara Piekarski (ETH Zürich )
Abstract:In a first part, I will present a Bragg-like spectroscopy in a paraxial fluid of light formed by a beam propagating in a nonlinear Kerr medium. Analogues of short Bragg pulses imprinted on the photon fluid using wavefront shaping enable the determination of the dispersion relation with increased accuracy. This method also yields the first measurement of the static structure factor S0(k) in a photon fluid, which is in agreement with the prediction of he Feynman relation revealing indirectly the presence of pair-correlated particles (Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 023401, 2021). In a second part, I will present strategies to compensate gravity on a lattice of ultracold 40K atoms with the optical dipole force, enabling for a reduced confining potential. We numerically show that two methods can be employed to optimally reshape a gaussian beam for this purpose, one consisting in misaligning a top-hat
