Exclusive Production of Heavy Flavours in Proton-Antiproton Collisions
Speaker:W. Schweiger (KFU Graz)
Abstract:We will discuss the reaction proton-antiproton going into hadron-antihadron for the case that the hadron contains a heavy (c or b) quark. Since the mass of the heavy quark can be taken as a hard scale, QCD perturbation theory becomes applicable at experimentally accessible energies and momentum transfers. We will present the analysis of this kind of reactions in terms of generalized parton distributions. By modeling the generalized parton distributions as an overlap of light-cone wave functions for the incoming proton and the outgoing hadron we are able to make predictions for transition form factors and (polarized) cross sections. We will show numerical results for the production of charmed Lambda-Antilambda pairs. Polarization observables exhibit patterns characteristic for a perturbative approach. Our predictions will be compared with those from other descriptions that are based on th
