Towards a BEC of CaF molecules
Speaker:Christopher J. Ho (Imperial College London)
Abstract:In this talk, I will discuss our progress towards a Bose-Einstein condensate of CaF molecules. I will explain the mechanisms behind the “conveyor-belt” blue-detuned magneto-optical trap, which has recently become an invaluable tool for efficient loading of molecules into an optical dipole trap. I will present our results in loading dipole traps of CaF molecules and provide an outlook towards evaporative cooling to quantum degeneracy. Finally, I will present some results from numerical simulations of techniques to improve the number of molecules captured by the initial magneto-optical trap.
