Stochastic Oscillations of General Relativistic Disks
Speaker:Gabriela Mocanu (Babes-Bolyai University, Romania)
Abstract:The general relativistic oscillations of a thin accretion disk around compact astrophysical objects are analyzed. These objects interact with the surrounding medium through non-gravitational forces, modeled via a friction force and a random force respectively. The dynamics of the stochastically perturbed disk can be formulated in terms of a general relativistic Langevin equation. The vertical oscillations of the disks in the Schwarzschild and Kerr geometries are considered in detail, and they are analyzed by numerically integrating the corresponding Langevin equations. The importance of this analysis in the context of explaining the nontrivial power spectral distribution slopes for Active Galactic Nuclei is discussed.

GHz/THz/FIR Conductivity in the Ferropnictides
Speaker:Ewald Schachinger (TU Graz)
Abstract:The Fermi surface and typical experimental results for the GHz/THz/FIR conductivity in the ferropnictides BaFe2As2 and Fe(SeTe) are discussed. Based on these Fermi surfaces a (minimum) Two-Band BCS model is proposed which can be used to describe the s+- symmetry of the superconducting gap. The properties of this model in the GHz/THz/FIR frequency region are discussed in general before the model is applied to the analysis of experimental results which have been presented at the beginning of this talk. Caveats of the Two-Band BCS model are also discussed here. Finally, necessary extensions beyond this rather simple and intuitive BCS model necessary for a better and more consistent data analysis are noted as a future project.

Aktueller Stand des Projektes MedAustron mit dem Schwerpunkt nichtklinische Forschung
Speaker:Dr. rer. nat. Ingeborg Zeh (PEG MedAustron GmbH)
