Phase separation dynamics in a binary mixtures of ultrasoft particles (Vienna Theory Lunch Seminar) |

Abstract: |
Phase separation plays a crucial role in determining the self-assembly of biological and soft matter systems. In the former case, liquid-liquid phase separation inside a cell leads to the formation of various macromolecular aggregates. The interaction among these aggregates is soft and the particles are generally modelled by ultrasoft particles. We have studied the phase separation dynamics of binary mixture of ultrasoft particles (with species A and B). When quenched to a lower temperature below critical temperature, the system undergoes a phase separation into an A-and a B-rich phase. In detailed and extensive molecular dynamics simulations we have identified the critical point. Exploring the higher structure of symmetries [start at 14.30!] |

Abstract: | Recent progress in our understanding of symmetries of quantum fields indicates these are encoded by a collection of topological membranes of various dimensionality, encoding the conserved quantum numbers of extended operators. One feature of topological membranes is that they can form intricated networks of topological junctions, which give generalized symmetries a higher structure. The higher structure has physical implications, for example in the form of selection rules, anomalies, and generalized Ward identities. In this talk, after introducing these ideas, I will discuss some recent progress in characterizing the higher structure of the symmetries of axion-Maxwell theory as a concrete example. QCD Factorization and Resummation from Heavy Jets to Heavy Hadrons |

Abstract: | Existing data from LEP, B factories, and the LHC, as well as the experimental programs at the upcoming EIC and other future colliders, contain the key to a new level of depth in our understanding of QCD. These advances can range from precision determinations of the strong coupling -- the main parameter of QCD -- to new ways of probing the still-mysterious physics of hadronization, but require equally precise and refined first-principle QCD predictions. In the first part of my talk, I will discuss the all-order resummation of perturbative logarithms near so-called Sudakov shoulders, specifically for the case of the heavy jet mass (HJM) event shape in electron-positron collisions. I present a unified formalism that describes the partonic HJM distribution from the dijet to the shoulder region, and discuss in particular how we cleared a roadblock on the way to higher perturbative precision b |

Categorical-Symmetry Resolved Entanglement in CFT |

Abstract: | In this talk, we will discuss a symmetry-resolved entanglement for categorical symmetries (CaT-SREE) in 2D CFTs. The definition will parallel that of group-like symmetries employing the concept of symmetric boundary states, but with respect to a categorical symmetry. We shall apply this to rational CFTs, where the behaviour of CaT-SREE mirrors that of group-like symmetries. This includes instances of the breakdown of entanglement equipartition at the next-to-leading order in the cut-off expansion. This will shed light on the interplay between categorical symmetries, entanglement, and boundary conditions in 2D CFTs.

Minimal sterile neutrino dark matter |

Abstract: | Sterile neutrinos constitute a very well-motivated extension of the standard model of particle physics. For masses in the keV range, furthermore, they provide excellent candidates for the cosmologically observed dark matter. Producing them with the correct
primordial abundance requires additional new physics, however, given that the simplest
production mechanism via oscillations is observationally ruled out.
In this talk I will briefly review generic mechanisms for the genesis of dark matter, with a focus on a newly proposed production scenario that is characterized by an era of exponential growth of the dark matter density in the early universe. I will then demonstrate
how such a scenario is naturally realized for for sterile neutrinos in a very minimal setup. I further show how this idea opens up highly relevant -- and relatively shortly testable -- new parameter space for ste |
