A review of the conceptual problems raised by a precise test of the Pauli Exclusion Principle (the VIP Experiment)
Speaker:Dr. Edoardo Milotti (Dipartimento di Fisica dell'Università di Trieste and I.N.F.N.)
Abstract:Though easy to state and to understand, the Pauli Exclusion Principle poses some very special conceptual problems to those experimenters that put it to the test. These problems pop up at every stage, from the initial design of the apparatus until the final analysis. In this talk I shall discuss some of these trying but quite interesting and challenging aspects, with special reference to the VIP experiment, which is a precision test of the Pauli Exclusion Principle for electrons.
