| Imaging with ion beams at MedAustron |

| Abstract: | Ion beam therapy with its advantageous property to selectively irradiate tumours, while sparing healthy tissue, has become an increasingly used method for cancer treatment in many facilities around the globe. For accurate dose delivery, the computer-assisted treatment planning process is an essential part requiring appropriate imaging of the tumour region and the surrounding structures.

The aim of this talk is to report on ongoing preparation work for establishing tomography with ion beams at MedAustron. Additionally, an overview of the infrastructure available for non-clinical research at MedAustron will be given.

| Calabi-Yau geometry from supersymmetric gauge theory |

| Abstract: | Calabi-Yau spaces play an important role in compactifications of string theory from
ten to four dimensions. In this talk I will show how Calabi-Yaus can be constructed
and analyzed by making use of a supersymmetric gauge theory in two dimensions –
the gauged linear sigma model. After introducing the basic concepts and examples,
I will give an overview of recent applications.

| All-oder calculations for PDFs determination |

| Abstract: | I discuss the inclusion of the resummation in the context of the determination of parton distribution functions (PDFs). In particular, I present PDFs fits that are obtained including
the resummation of threshold logarithms and high-energy logarithms, leading to a more reliable description of the large- and small-x regions of phase space. Specifically, I show
how the PDF fit with small-x resummation provide strong evidence of BFKL dynamics
in inclusive HERA data.
