Generalized Siegel-Weil formula, Chern-Simons invariants and 3d gravity |
Speaker: | Abhiram Kidambi (Kavli IPMU, University of Tokyo) |
Abstract: | A recent discovery in holography is the idea of a dual not of a particular CFT but rather of an ensemble of CFT's and its gravitational interpretation. In this talk, I will explain the case of the generalization of the recent work of Maloney-Witten and Afkhami-Jeddi et.al. Following a pedagogical introduction to the number theory requirements, I will talk about the holographic duality that follows from considering the average over toroidal CFTs with unequal left and right moving central charges. |

A novel laser spectroscopy technique to explore the most exotic nuclides |
Speaker: | Dr. Simon Lechner (CERN) |
Abstract: | More than 70 years after the establishment of the nuclear shell model, understanding
the rich physics phenomena encountered in atomic nuclei across the nuclear chart
remains an intriguing endeavor of research. Radioactive ion beam (RIB) facilities
such as ISOLDE at CERN enable studies of short-lived radioactive isotopes in order
to improve and benchmark modern nuclear theory.
A powerful tool to access nuclear ground state properties of radionuclides, such as
the nuclear spin, electromagnetic moments and charge radii, is collinear laser
spectroscopy (CLS). However, in order to explore the most exotic nuclides far
away from stability, more sensitive methods are needed. For this reason, the novel
MIRACLS project at ISOLDE/CERN, aims to... [for full abstract please visit: https://indico.smi.oeaw.ac.at/event/399/] |
