Asymptotic soliton-like solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries equations with variable coefficients and singular perturbation
Speaker:Valerii Samoilenko (Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv )
Abstract:The talk deals with the singular perturbed Korteweg-de Vries equation with variable coefficients. The equation arises as a model of wave processes in media with variable characteristics and a small dispersion. Due to the presence of so-called soliton solutions with amazing properties, the Korteweg-deVries equation attracted much attention of researchers in the middle of the last century. Until present, it is in the centre of investigation of many scientists. The main aim of the investigated problem is to construct asymptotic solutions of the soliton type, that is, to find approximate solutions of the problem, in a certain sense, similar to classical soliton. The problem is solved using the nonlinear WKB (Wentzel, Kramers, Brillouin) method. The main results consist in development of approach to the construction of asymptotic soliton-like solution of the equation. The constructed asympto
