Quantum modularity of 3-manifold invariants
Speaker:Francesca Ferrari
Abstract:Recently, a new homological invariant of 3-manifolds - which categorifies the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant - has been discovered. This is known as the homological block. In this talk, I will explain the importance of quantum modular forms in the study of 3-manifold invariants and describe, in particular, how to predict topological data of 3-manifolds via the quantum modular properties of the associated homological block. The talk will be based on the article 1809.10148 and work in progress with Cheng, Chun, Feigin, Gukov, and Harrison.

Testing Swampland Conjectures
Speaker:Hirosi Ooguri (Caltech & Kavli IPMU)
Abstract:Over the last fourteen years, a variety of swampland conditions have been proposed with various degrees of rigor. In this talk, I will discuss tests of some of these conjectures that do not rely on specific string theory constructions. They include constraints on symmetry, strength of gravitational couplings, cobordism between theories, and issues with lower dimensional theories.
