Speaker:Prof. Giulia Pancheri (INFN) et al. (Austrian Academy of Sciences / HEPHY)
Abstract:The Academy of Sciences of Austria (ÖAW) and the Italian Embassy in Vienna, in collaboration with the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the High Energy Physics Institute of the ÖAW (HEPHY), are organizing the science communication event, Particle Accelerators as Microscopes: the Legacy of Bruno Touschek from Vienna to Rome, on Feb. 29, 2024, at 7 p.m., at the Festive Hall of the ÖAW in Vienna. Bruno Touschek was a distinguished theoretical physicist born in Vienna in 1921. From 1953, he spent most of his scientific activity at the Frascati National Laboratories of the newly established National Institute of Nuclear Physics in Rome. There he made enormous contributions to advances in elementary particle physics and, in particular, is considered the father of modern particle accelerators, the so-called "colliders”.
