Deterministic Photon-Atom and Photon-Photon Interactions based on Single-Photon Raman Interaction
Speaker:Barak Dayan (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel)
Abstract:I will present our demonstration of a passive scheme for deterministic interactions between a single photon and a single atom. Relying on single-photon Raman interaction (SPRINT), these control-fields free scheme swaps a flying qubit, encoded in the two possible input modes of a photon, with a stationary qubit, encoded in the two ground states of the atom, and can be also harnessed to perform universal quantum gates. Using SPRINT we experimentally demonstrated all-optical switching of single photons by single photons, and deterministic extraction of a single photon from an optical pulse. Applicable to any atom-like Lambda system, SPRINT provides a versatile building block for scalable quantum networks based on passive nodes interconnected and activated solely by single photons.

Charmed baryons in Belle and activity of the Nuclear Physics Consortium
Speaker:Prof. Dr. Kiyoshi Tanida (Advanced Science Research Center, Japan Atomic Energy Agency)
Abstract:Data taking of Belle experiment is over, but interesting results are still actively produced. In this seminar, I will show recent results on charmed baryons in the Belle experiment. First, new measurements on Ξc resonances are presented, and I will discuss diquark pictures based on the results. Second, I will report the first measurement of doubly-Cabbibo suppressed decay of charmed baryon. Then, several ongoing analyses and some ideas, which may need Belle-II statistics, will be introduced. Related to these activities, I also would like to introduce Nuclear Physics Consortium, which is a virtual institute to encourage participation of nuclear/hadron physicists to the Belle (II) experiment.
