Strong fields with a single photon: Controlling reactions with polaritonic chemistry
Speaker:Johannes Feist (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)
Abstract:When the coherent energy exchange between a confined electromagnetic field mode and material excitations becomes faster than the decay and decoherence of either constituent, the system eigenstates become polaritons with mixed light‐matter character. It has recently been realized that polariton formation in organic materials can also be used to manipulate and control chemical reactions without requiring active input of energy. The talk will discuss the basics and some applications of polaritonic chemistry, as well as future perspectives.
