QCD scattering amplitudes at the precision frontier |
Speaker: | Heribertus Bayu Hartanto (Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge) |
Abstract: | I will discuss a framework to compute two-loop multiscale QCD amplitudes that combines integrand reduction, integration-by-part identities, numerical evaluation over finite fields
and analytic reconstruction techniques. Recent applications of this framework to compute two-loop 2 to 3 scattering processes with an offshell leg, as well as an analytic computation
of two-loop gg->tt amplitude involving massive top loop will also be presented. |

New analytic method to deal with dissipative systems. Application to the general relativistic Poynting-Robertson effect |
Speaker: | Vittorio De Falco (University of Naples “Federico II”) |
Abstract: | Dissipative systems are usually present in all physical fields (e.g., Kinetic theory of gas,Quantum Mechanics,Astrophysics,Cosmology,String Theory)since they are able to furnish a more realistic description of the phenomenon under study. However, the attained modeling-accurateness is also responsible, most of the time, in loss of existence,
smoothness, and symmetries of the solutions, presence of topologically complex structures featuring chaotic behaviour, and difficulties in the numerical integration process. In the literature, several methods have been proposed, going from mathematical to numerical analysis. The “relative drawbacks” of some approaches relies on the fact that they are very targeted for the problem to solve or very technical, involving advanced mathematical concepts. In my talk I present a new analytic method developed in collaboration with Dr. Emmanuele Battista, which ... |

From LHC phenomenology to Gravitational Wave Astronomy |
Speaker: | Manfred Kraus (Florida State University) |
Abstract: | Currently, the LHC experiments observe a slight tension between data and Standard Model predictions for top-quark pair production in association
with a W boson. I will discuss the recent advances in the modelling of fiducial signatures and discuss the need for higher-order corrections at NNLO accuracy.
Furthermore, I will highlight that the same techniques for the computation ofmulti-loop scattering amplitudes can be employed to extract the gravitational
potential of black hole inspirals.

Construction of high-frequency spacetimes |
Speaker: | Arthur TOUATI (CMLS, Ecole Polytechnique) |
Abstract: | In this work, I will present recent work on high-frequency solutions to the Einstein vacuum equations. From a physical point of view, these solutions model high-frequency gravitational waves and describe how waves travel on a fixed background metric. As noted in 1969 by Choquet-Bruhat,a wave has an effect on the background on which it travels. This is the so called backreaction phenomenon, which is also at the heart of the Burnett conjecture(stated in 1989).This conjecture adresses the lack of compactness of the family of vacuum spacetimes, for a sufficiently weak topology allowing in the limit non-trivial contribution to the matter side of the Einstein vacuum equations. The goal of my talk is to show how one can tackle those questions from the Cauchy problem in general relativity and what are the PDE challenges encountered. More precisely, after reviewing the literature on high-frequency . . . |

From quantum many-body scars to time crystals: entanglement steering via periodic driving |
Speaker: | Maksym Serbyn (IST Austria) |
Abstract: | In my talk I will discuss a new mechanism of the weak ergodicity breaking relevant for the experimentally realized Rydberg-atom quantum simulators [1]. This mechanism arises from the presence of special eigenstates in the many-body spectrum that are reminiscent of quantum scars in chaotic non-interacting systems [2]. After review of different mechanisms that lead to scars, I will discuss more recent experiments [3] that demonstrated that coherent revivals associated with quantum many-body scars can be stabilized by periodic driving, generating stable subharmonic responses over a wide parameter regime. I will propose a simple model which explains experimental phenomena by spatiotemporal ordering in an effective Floquet unitary, corresponding to discrete time-crystalline (DTC) behavior in a prethermal regime. Unlike conventional DTC, the subharmonic response exists only for Neel-like initi |
