Conformal gravity holography in four dimensions
Speaker:Maria Irakleidou (Vienna University of Technology)
Abstract:We formulate four-dimensional conformal gravity with (Anti-)de Sitter boundary conditions that are weaker than Starobinsky boundary conditions, allowing for an asymptotically subleading Rindler term concurrent with a recent model for gravity at large distances. We prove the consistency of the variational principle and derive the holographic response functions. One of them is the conformal gravity version of the Brown-York stress tensor, the other is a `partially massless response'. The on-shell action and response functions are finite and do not require holographic renormalization. Finally, we discuss phenomenologically interesting examples, including the most general spherically symmetric solutions and rotating black hole solutions with partially massless hair.

How to publish your work in the Physical Review
Speaker:Dr. Thomas Pattard (APS Editorial Office, Ridge, NY)
Abstract:In this talk, I will try to give some insight into the publishing process from the perspective of an editor. I will give a short overview of APS publishing, and the workflow associated with the handling of a typical manuscript. This will lead us to the question of what we are looking for in a paper / referee report / cover letter, and how the communication between all involved parties can be improved. In the last few minutes of the talk, I will briefly discuss various recent APS initiatives.

Locally covariant field theory and the Hadamard parametrix
Speaker:Jochen Zahn (University of Vienna, Physics)
Abstract:I give an introduction to locally covariant field theory, a framework for quantum field theory on curved spacetimes. I highlight the role of the Hadamard parametrix in defining nonlinear observables, such as the stress-energy tensor or the current density. Some physically relevant information can be extracted from this object, such as anomalies or the nontrivial scaling behavior of observables (related to the renormalization group flow). Connections to microlocal analysis and index theory will be discussed, albeit rather superficially.
